Isollat 05
The Isollat 05 product, intumescent paint, has been specially designed to protect steel structures (subject to collapse with heat) and reinforced concrete (which, too, has a limited fire resistance time before becoming irrecoverable), wooden structures, flat roofs with bituminous sheaths, plastic artifacts of technical systems (eg HDPE pipes for sewage drains), and any other material that could become caught in the fire. Isollat 05 is a formulation with alumina nanoparticles, which give it the properties of interest, with great durability and resistance to humidity. When exposed to high temperatures, Isollat 05 expands up to 50 times its initial volume forming a refractory foam with low thermal conductivity,and which constitutes a barrier to the spread of flames, protecting the treated surfaces.
Use
The reinforced concrete and masonry surfaces where Isollat 05 is to be applied must be free of dust, dirt, grease or other contaminants that could reduce the adhesion of the product. If the surfaces are very dirty, it may be necessary to clean them with a pressure washer. Isollat 05 is able to adhere to plastered or reinforced concrete surfaces without first applying a primer. Once a first coat of Isollat 05 has been applied, at least 2 hours must pass (depending on the weather conditions) before a second coat can be applied. After the application of this first anchoring coat, the application of subsequent coats of Isollat 05 must respect the same drying times. Isollat 05 is supplied ready for use in sealed buckets and can be diluted, if necessary, with water,in a maximum quantity of 5% v / v. Before use, the product must be thoroughly mixed with a low-speed electric stirrer, in order not to damage the microcells inside. When the Isollat 05 product is applied on surfaces exposed to the external environment and to the weather, after its complete drying, it must be painted over with weather-resistant paint, or with a varnish.
